December 2023 – Zaza
She is the most beautiful, well behaved, easily trainable dog I’ve ever encountered. I’ve had dogs for 44 years.
Anyone taking one of these beauties would be very lucky.

Update – June 2024
Unfortunately the family who adopted Zaza decided to return her and she is sadly up for adoption again.
December 2023 -Toni
I would like to share my experience of adopting a dog from APAA. I adopted a German Shepherd, Toni, who is now called Vegas.
APAA’s team are very committed and friendly and have treated me wonderfully from first contact to adoption. They have accompanied visits to the vet and made home visits to make sure the dog is comfortable, healthy and happy.
APAA has so many fantastic dogs waiting and longing for loving, forever homes. You can always register an interest in participating in the dog walk that takes place once a week. There you have the opprtunity to meet many different dogs! If you take the time to get to know the dogs you will see that they are responsive, happy and incredibly positive individuals.
I now own the world’s most beautiful dog and wish everyone could experience the love he gives me every day!

Nela – 2023
When me and my partner saw Nela through a friend’s Instagram we knew straight away that we wanted her. The contact with the shelter went fast and smoothly. A home visit was set up with a local former adopter that came to see our apartment and had an interview with us. When we were approved by APAA, they started doing the necessary work for Nela’s travelling documents and a volunteer flight buddy helped us get Nela home to Gothenburg, Sweden. The whole process took about 12 days.
The day Nela arrived she was a bit wary of us and her new surroundings, understandably so. But in just a couple of days she started to open up and trust us. Nela is a playful, energetic love bundle that brings us so much affection and laughter – we are so glad we made this decision.

January 2024 -Ringo
Not our new “pet”, our new friend. He is so cool, funny and amazing. Ringo now known as Baloo runs as fast as an antelope. He loves running and I get the feeling that he feels free when he does so.
He is so funny and a real athlete. He is so happy and constantly shows me affection and wants to snuggle when we are home. When he knows we are going out he jumps around like a kangaroo.

February 2024 -Cooper
We are so grateful and happy for Cooper (now Atlas) what an amazing dog!
He works so well with us. He is a little scared taking the bus and going to town but he’s getting better and better.
He is quick to learn and easy to train and he thinks life is very good! He has been clean from the start indoors. He is playful and mischievious.
Thanks for letting us take care of him (adopt him).

April 2024 – Regaliz
We found the APAA charity shop while staying in Nerja. I picked up a card with their website details on it. It looked well set up with lots of info. I noted there was to be a walk on the Balcon on Wednesday where adoptable dogs could be seen. We were excited to go.
We spotted some volunteers with the dogs and approached. They were very friendly and gave us info on the dogs we asked about. We walked Regaliz with a volunteer and decided he was for us! Our previous Spanish rescue had died and Regaliz seemed perfect.
We were able to make an informed choice with no pressure. After satisfying the criteria for adoption a date was arranged by APAA for transport and we were informed exactly what was happening with regards to passports, vaccinations etc. I felt APAA had great compassion for the dogs and their prospective adopters.
Regaliz is a wonderful dog and we are fortunate to have found him. Thank you APAA, your charity does amazing work rehoming these dogs.
