WHAT IS APAA-Nerja
APAA-Nerja is a non-profit organization that helps homeless dogs find a new loving home, and thus a new chance in life. We are located in Nerja, Spain and the dogs available for adoption usually come from areas around Nerja. Our organization is 100% non-profit making, all donations and adoption fees go directly to the animals. Costs include veterinary visits, rent for the shelter (which covers farm space, food and cleaning), vaccination, sterilization, etc. We have many passionate and talented volunteers who do everything they can to help the animals.

WHAT WE DO
APAA-Nerja has been around since 2015. APAA stands for Asociacion de Proteccion a la Animales Abandonados, which translates to the Association for the Protection of Abandoned Animals. Each year approximately 250-300 dogs are adopted to Holland, Sweden, Germany, but also some in Spain. We are proud of our work and there is much to do. There are far too many dogs in Spain that need a family. The best feeling is when we receive a picture or video greeting from a happy dog in its new home.
